How it works:
Enter two starting points → tap Find Midpoint Places → choose a meetup place → tap Share Session or Copy Link → open the shared link on both phones → choose your travel mode → tap Start Live Sharing → tap Open Navigation to open directions in Google Maps.
Works with regular addresses, coordinates, and full Google Maps links.
Not supported yet: shortened maps.app.goo.gl links.
